What has shipped, and when
StarTrader is built in the open by one person. This is the honest version of what has changed, with real dates. Last update .
- New
Your losses now count against your gains
Sell a position at a loss and that amount is banked, then spent against the next gain you're taxed on. Losses within a single sale net against that sale's gains automatically, which previously they did not. Your banked losses are on your Tax Summary page. Pools are kept per league, so a loss in one league offsets gains in that same league only, and league pools reset when the season ends. Buying a name back within 30 days of selling it at a loss moves that part of the loss into the new position's cost basis instead, so you still get it back when you close that position.
- Improved
Clearer about what tax and fees actually are
The pricing page now shows the tax rate on every tier rather than only on Pro and Elite, which made it look like tax was something you started paying when you upgraded when in fact Free and Plus pay the highest rate. It explains that tax applies to gains and never to what you're holding, and spells out that your rate is a rolling 12-month average of the tiers you've held rather than a switch that flips the day you upgrade. It also now names the trade fee and the tax up front instead of implying there are no in-game costs at all.
- Fixed
Account and league limits now match what's advertised
The account and league-size limits on the pricing page were not being enforced anywhere, so the numbers on the page and the numbers in the product disagreed. They agree now. Account allowances were also re-cut: Free gets 1 personal and 3 league accounts, Plus gets 2 and 6, and Pro and Elite are unlimited. Elite leagues can finally reach the 50 members the tier advertises.
- New
An About page, and comparisons against the platforms you already use
Added a page saying who actually builds this, and honest side-by-side comparisons against Sleeper, Underdog, and BallStreet, including the parts where they are the better choice for you.
- New
An AI assistant for Pro and Elite
Ask questions about your portfolio, players, and funds in plain language and get an answer grounded in your actual holdings, without leaving the page.
- Fixed
Pages that broke for signed-out visitors
Eleven pages, including player detail, returned an error to anyone who was not logged in. They now show a proper signed-out view instead.
- New
Roster positions and slot rules in leagues
Commissioners can require a league to fill specific positions, and scoring now honours those slots. The matchup breakdown shows the lineup each side actually scored with.
- New
Funds can score in points leagues
Team and index funds now earn points from the real players inside them, so a league that allows funds scores them properly instead of ignoring them.
- New
Opening Bell
Build your portfolio sealed, then everyone in the league is revealed at the same moment. Nobody gets to react to your picks before the market opens.
- New
Season range, beta, and explainers on player metrics
Player pages now show a season range and how a player moves relative to their sport, with a flyout on each metric explaining what it means and how to read it.
- Improved
Points replaces yield across the platform
The scoring vocabulary is now Points everywhere, and Points is the default mode for new leagues. It is the closest feel to classic fantasy scoring, and the old wording confused more people than it helped.
- New
Rename your team from the app
A league Settings tab on mobile, starting with renaming your team without going to the web app.
- New
Live game panels per sport on mobile
Live games show the situation that actually matters for that sport, rather than one generic layout for all three.
